Pescara is an Italian city located on the Adriatic coast, renowned for its beaches and as the birthplace of the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio. Chieti, by contrast, is one of the oldest cities in Italy. According to legend, it was founded by Achilles and named Theate in honour of his mother, Thetis.
The surrounding area offers a remarkable combination of nature, picturesque landscapes, cultural heritage, and outdoor activities. The Adriatic coastline features long sandy beaches to the north and mainly pebbly beaches to the south. The charming villages of the hinterland, together with the region’s monasteries and castles, are also included in numerous tourist routes across Abruzzo, widely known as the “greenest region of Italy”.
